Denice Franke’s voice is a low-pitched wonder. She has recorded with the likes of Nanci Griffith and Eric Taylor. (Taylor, who produced her last two CDs, told me when he was here in May that the Spencer house concert audience will love her!). Franke is a Texas singer/songwriter in the tradition of Townes Van Zandt, Vince Bell, Nanci Griffith, Eric Taylor, and others. Her songs are sad-eyed and sharp-edged, well worth hearing—not to mention her strong guitar work or her sense of melody or her easy laugh or her way with an audience. But you'll have a chance to figure all that out for yourself.
